  • Medicare Card
  • Veteran Affairs, Pension Card or Healthcare Card
  • Private Health Insurance cards (if applicable)
  • List of any current medications you are taking
  • Current glasses or contact lenses (if applicable).

This information will help our team set you up on our administration system so we can organise any necessary appointments, rebates and tests in relation to your diagnosis and treatment.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT

The following may occur during your appointment:

  • Most appointments take between 60-90 minutes
  • Your Orthoptist will discuss with you your medical history, any test results (if applicable) and the current issues you are experiencing
  • Your doctor may ask you to undertake some eye tests during your visit
    • You are highly likely to have drops in your eyes to dilate your pupils
    • Following the eye drops your vision maybe blurred and light sensitive for about an hour following your visit
    • If you are seeing the retinal specialist your vision may be blurred for 3-4 hours after your visit
    • It is recommended that you do not drive until the drops have worn off
    • Sunglasses may assist with the glare during this time
    • We recommend you have a friend of family member pick you up after your appointment

At the conclusion of your appointment your doctor may discuss with you the test results and the potential next steps in your diagnosis and/or treatment.

Our friendly reception staff will inform you if a new referral is required for your next appointment.

Note – Private health insurance is for hospital admissions, not for your appointments in the clinic.
